Technique: Acrylic on canvas

Style: Expressive and emotional portrayal through bold brush strokes and contrasting colors.

Interpretation

“The Melody of the Soul” captures the inner world of a woman who makes music through art to express her deepest feelings. With a dominant palette of red, blue, black, and white, Miroslava Kaurin creates an intense emotional atmosphere. The red might symbolize passion or conflict, while the blue could represent calm or sorrow, reflecting the duality of human emotions. Through rough, dynamic brush strokes and the central placement of the figure, a scene of movement and emotional intensity is depicted, as if the woman, through her instrument, bridges the gap between the external world and her inner emotional landscape.

Artist Biography

Miroslava Kaurin (deceased September 29, 2022, at the age of 76) was an artist from Sarajevo who has been actively involved in Bosnian-Herzegovinian art circles through solo and group exhibitions, as well as various art associations.

I met Miroslava at the MerisCon art colony in Zenica in 2015.

From the very first moment until now, our friendship has marked us as individuals, artists, and kindred spirits. Friendship can, but does not have to, be built over time. We have known each other for just a few years, but what binds me to Miroslava transcends time. People and their friendships can be defined by a single moment, which then remains eternal.

Born in Vranje, she carries in her artistic expression the spirit and energy of the South, recognizable in the dynamics of her color palette and the very strong contrasts of mood. Portraiture and the art of the figure, especially of women, are themes that occupy her artistic expression with their complexity. Through these themes, she sometimes portrays the range of human emotion in a very realistic manner, and at other times in an abstract way. The face is always in focus and is the primary bearer of her vision, even when completely devoid of any features.

Involved in painting since 1989

Miroslava has been involved in painting since 1989 when she started at the painting school of S. Čizmić and N. Kantardžić in Sarajevo, and later studied under the Master of Painting Indira Kecman. Her love for painting sustained her through the war years when she began working with organizations like “Mary Stopes International”, HKD “Napredak”, AKCUS “Seljo”, “Paleta Ćulhan”, among others. Through these associations, and on her own initiative, she participated in numerous art colonies and workshops both domestically and abroad. Her desire for improvement was fulfilled through continuous attendance at painting schools.

Art Colonies: Goražde, Hadžići, Tuzla, Tešanj, Počitelj, Lake Prokoško, Fojnica, Biennale in Tuzla, Balaton, Zenica, Kakanj, Livno.

Solo Exhibitions: Three in Sarajevo, one in Brist, Croatia.

Appearances: TV Hayat, TV Sarajevo, TV Kiseljak, TV SA, TV Vogošća, TV Face, and others.
